My specialties at a glance

ADHD

When I work with clients with ADHD, we’ll collaborate to figure out ways to manage attention, impulsivity, and organization. The goal is to create practical tools for everyday life, learn strategies to improve focus and productivity, and deal with any emotional impact. By using your strengths and effectively managing the challenges of ADHD, the aim is to help you gain insights and strategies to control symptoms, use your strengths, and achieve your goals more efficiently.

Anxiety

When it comes to dealing with anxiety, I like to use a mix of techniques that help you stay present, commit to your values, and understand and manage your emotions better. I find that using metaphors and setting achievable goals can really help you handle your thoughts and feelings in a more workable way. Through our work, we can explore ways to challenge negative thought patterns, develop coping skills for managing stress, and create a personalized toolkit to navigate through anxious feelings.

Relationship Issues

Navigating complex relationships and understanding their impact can be challenging yet transformative. Therapy offers valuable support in this regard, addressing not only romantic relationships but also the connections we have at work, with family, and with friends. My practice is dedicated to helping both singles seeking deeper connections and those in any kind of partnership where needs are not being met and communication is struggling. Together, we will work to identify the barriers holding you back from forming and engaging in the fulfilling relationships you deserve.

I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) in Washington, D.C. Currently, I only offer telehealth sessions, but in the near future, I plan to establish a physical office space in the District as well.

Where do you work from? Can I see you in person or do you work virtually?

I understand that therapy costs can feel overwhelming. Even though I don't take insurance, I offer a reduced fee/sliding scale. I genuinely believe that finances should never be a barrier to receiving quality therapy. Even if you're not sure you can cover the costs, let's have a conversation about your options and create a plan that suits you best.

Therapy costs are too damn high! Do you take insurance? If not, how can we still work together?

In order to receive effective ADHD treatment, many typically undergo a thorough evaluation by a team of qualified healthcare professionals. While I can offer initial assessments and a preliminary diagnosis, I am legally not allowed to prescribe medication. However, as an advocate, I can assist you in navigating the complexities of the healthcare system to ensure that you receive the right diagnosis and medication. Additionally, even after receiving a diagnosis and medication, many individuals with ADHD find that they still require support through therapy to manage their challenges and address a lifetime of an undiagnosed or undertreated disorder.

If you think you might have ADHD or need support, I’m here for you, so please reach out to me.

Do you provide ADHD assessments or prescribe medication? Can I still work with you even if I don't have a diagnosis or medication yet?

I prefer to keep things genuine. In other words, during our conversations, I will follow your guidance and remain open-minded. I don’t have a specific agenda or plan for our sessions, but I am willing to be straightforward and gently push you when necessary. This can help us identify obstacles and determine the changes needed to achieve your goals.

Your feedback is also crucial to me, as I want to understand what is effective and what is not. By fostering a relationship based on honesty and open communication about your ‘here and now’ experience, I believe we can make more effective progress.

What's it like to be in a session with you? Tell me more about your style and approach.

I utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches in my work, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-based approaches, Emotionally Focused Therapy, 'Parts' Work, and Interpersonal/Relational Therapy.

What kinds of therapy are you trained in?

As much as I would love to work with an alien and a cat in couples therapy, unfortunately, that’s outside of my wheelhouse. Right now, I only see individual adults over the age of 18. However, I am looking to begin leading groups as well as providing couples therapy in the not too distant future.

My Specialties

Adult ADHD

Struggling to keep track of your keys, appointments, and, well...life? You're not alone! ADHD in adulthood can feel like a never-ending juggling act, but it doesn't have to be that way. I offer an approach to help you manage the circus, build new habits, and make life a little more ADHD-friendly. Our work can help turn "I totally forgot this" into "I've totally got this!"

Anxiety

Feeling like your mind’s always racing, and your worry dial is stuck on high? Anxiety can turn everyday moments into overwhelming challenges. Therapy can help you hit pause, breathe, and find new ways to manage that stress. Together, we can quiet the noise and get you back to feeling more in control.

Relationships

Does your relationship have you feeling like you're navigating a minefield? Relationships of all sorts can be tricky, especially when you’re trying to figure out what you really want (or why you keep swiping left or right on the wrong people). I help people untangle the stress of modern relationships (both romantic and platonic), build healthy boundaries, and approach challenges with more clarity and confidence.

'I'm not lazy, I'm just really good at prioritizing things that aren't priorities' -  Unknown

My Specialties

My fee is $195 for a 60-minute session. I also offer a few sliding scale slots to accommodate different needs. While I’m out-of-network and don’t accept insurance directly, I can gladly provide you with a superbill at the end of each month. This can help you secure partial reimbursement from many insurance companies.

What do you charge?

I’m currently licensed in Washington, DC. I hope to be licensed in Virginia and Maryland in the near future and to have office space in the District for in person sessions as well.

Where do you work from?

According to federal law, I am not authorized to prescribe medication. However, I can guide you to resources and assist you in navigating the healthcare system to obtain a proper diagnosis. If it's clinically appropriate, you may be eligible for a prescription. Please keep in mind that I will not provide an ADHD diagnosis without an additional evaluation from another healthcare professional, alongside our collaborative work.

Do you provide medication?

My approach is conversational and focused on your needs. I don’t begin sessions with a fixed plan or agenda. Instead, our time together often involves addressing challenges as they arise, processing emotions in the moment, and discussing helpful topics to work on between sessions. I consider our time together to be sacred, and I do my best to be mindful of what you need to feel comfortable in order to make progress toward your goals.

What's it like to be in a session with you?

I use a range of modalities in my approach depending on what we determine is most beneficial for you. I'm trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Humanistic/Person-Centered Therapy, Parts Work, and Mindfulness-based approaches.

What kinds of therapy do you use?

Right now, I only see individual adults 18 and older. I hope in the future to provide couples and group therapy as well.

Welcome to my practice

Why I do this work...

About me

From a young age, I've always been curious about what makes people tick. When I learned about psychology in college, I realized there was something I could do professionally about this weird interest of mine.

During this time, I was also dealing with my own 'psychology', including ADHD and anxiety, which highlighted the importance of strong relationships for me. Fortunately, therapy became a vital resource for me, offering insights and support that transformed my perspective. This journey not only helped me gain greater self-awareness, but also revealed a lot of resilience and compassion within myself.

As a therapist, I'm dedicated to sharing the transformative power of therapy with others. My goal is to guide individuals in uncovering their strengths, navigating life's challenges, and building solid connections with themselves and the people around them. This process can lead to profound personal growth and deeper relationships, ultimately fostering a more fulfilling life.

Matt-Damon-Robin-Williams-Good-Will-Hunting_edited.jpg

Why am I a therapist?

I've always been deeply inspired by Robin Williams character, Sean, in the movie 'Good Will Hunting'. His genuine compassion and ability to connect with Matt Damon’s character, Will, resonated with me from the beginning. Sean was more than just a mental health professional for Will; he was a real person who helped someone feeling so disconnected from himself and others find his way back to love. Will was someone who needed to feel truly seen and understood and Sean did just that.

Through my own mental health journey,  I've realized that therapy is about more than just healing; it's about creating that relationship where you can let yourself be authentic; both with yourself and with others.

Like Sean, I want to help others navigate their emotions and uncover their true selves. My goal is to foster a supportive and encouraging space where clients can openly explore their challenges and find their path forward, just as Sean did with Will. Becoming a therapist is my way of honoring that powerful connection and making a difference in people's lives.

So, maybe the more important question is 'How do you like 'dem apples?'
